Who Should Get CPR Certification?

CPR certification in Minneapolis is one of the most important certificates one can earn. Anyone can sign up for a class to get certified but there are several different occupations out there where CPR certification is either required or highly recommended.

Lifeguards

Lifeguards fall into the “required” category when it comes to CPR certification. The occupation’s name says it all. Their responsibility is to make sure no one gets hurt or worse while swimming in a pool, ocean, lake or other body of water. Some lifeguards are even required to learn oxygen administration on top of CPR and other life-saving courses.

Childcare Providers

If you are going to care for children of any age in any state in this country, CPR certification is also required. This goes without saying, but being able to administer CPR to a child is a valuable skill to have, even if you’re not on the job when the situation comes up.

Health Care Workers

Even health care workers who don’t regularly come into contact with patients should have CPR certification. Of course, any time we think of health care workers, we automatically think of doctors and nurses, but there are plenty of workers who play a supporting role who need this kind of training as well. Many health care workers are also required to have a higher level of certification, so they will usually have to be certified in Basic Life Support.

Flight Attendants

You probably didn’t think of this occupation, did you? But flight attendants are required by the FAA to have first aid and CPR certification. Think about it: if you’re 30,000 feet up in the air and there are no doctors aboard the plane, who better to help save your life than a flight attendant? Flight attendants are on planes to keep passengers safe and healthy, not just hand out pillows and tiny cans of Diet Coke.
